Known as THE MORNING STAR or THE EVENING STAR by ancient astronomers. Earths sister planet is similar in size, mass, volume and density. Venus is scorched with a surface temperature of about 482° C (900° F). Sunlight passes through the atmosphere to heat the surface of the planet. Heat is radiated out, but is trapped by the dense atmosphere and not allowed to escape into space. This makes Venus hotter than Mercury.
VENUS NEWS.
Venus crossed the sun for the first time in living history on the June 8, 2004. Half our globe watched the tiny black dot of the planet Venus moving across the disc of the sun. The previous transit of Venus occurred on December 6, 1882 - one of merely five events of its kind ever watched by mankind. The black dot caused major excitment in England as conditions were perfect to see Venus crossing the lower half of the sun. In Australia the view was over the top half of the hemisphere of the sun. The phenomenon continued for about six hours.

This image shows Venus on the eastern limb of the Sun. The faint ring around
the planet comes from the scattering of its atmosphere, which allows some
sunlight to show around the edge of the otherwise dark planetary disk.
